This week's Movies in Review

Let's Go To Prison - I had no hopes for this movie, as it had one star by its name.  It was actually kind of funny though.  Not laugh out loud hysterical, but it had its funny moments, with prison fights and tiolet wine.  Dax Sheppard was his normal trailer trash character, which we always enjoy.  Over all I gave it a three smiley face review.  Not the best, but it was funny.

The Holiday
- This movie was alright.  I expected more from it with the reviews that it received and the cast.  It was sweet and funny at times.  Where Kate Winslet's character was pathetical, she was believable and you rooted for her.  Cameron Diaz's character Amanda was much more high strung and annoying for most of the movie...it wasn't until the end that she became someone to actually pull for.  Jack Black was utilized perfectly.  He was funny and likeable, but not his normal over the top ridiculous...it was a nice change of pace for him (far cry from Nacho Libre).  I still find Jude law creepy, no matter what he's in.....just always seems like a rat to me.  As for the best part of this movie...that would be the moment that the doors opened for Arthur Abbott (Eli Wallach) as he enters the room for his life time achievement award...that had me in tears.  I loved the respect and admiration for this historical man (even if he is make believe).

BoratWhat the Hell was That?  I sat through that entire movie waiting for it to have some kind of meaning.  It was disgusting, disrespectful and did I say disgusting.  What a piece of trash...and Hollywood recognized it for it's greatness.  Greatness in what way?!?  Here are my thoughts...this movie is supposed to be great because it's all unscripted....and Hollywood loved it because it shows real American's and the real way that Americans act.  So this is what they think of us.  They look down from their Hollywood hill and see only hookers & Trailer trash?  They think we're horrible people because we don't want a strange man coming up to us on the subway & kissing us, or think we're snotty because people are offended when this guy invites a hooker to their dinner party?  And why are we so wrong for boo-ing his ridiculous (and made up) disrespectful national anthem?  This is crap.  The whole thing is crap and makes me sick.  I wish I didn't love movies so much, because setting it out in front of me right now...what they all think we in America are, makes me wish I would boycott the whole system.  I will not though...because I love the good films...the films Arthur Abbot would have written....for that reason I stay loyal, and my only protest in this blog and my less than one star review.  I suck.

The Departed
- Awesome.  The 'Academy' finally got something right.  Now this was a twisted good cop/bad cop, mafia movie worth watching, with more twists in it then a soft ice cream stand.  Of course Jack was terrific.  I always think Leo is slimy, but he plays it well, and did an outstanding job.  Matt Damon reached down deep and grabbed on to his inner 'prick' that he used in one of his first flicks, School Ties, and made us all wish he'd get caught.  This was a suspenseful, pay attention movie, that I will have to watch again for every little detail that I'm sure I missed this time around...Scorses is smarter then us all....so I know it's there somewhere.

**** - Loved IT!
