This Weeks Movies in Review
Evan Almighty - This was a fun family comedy...just like it's predecessor, Bruce, it was a ridiculous good time. Freeman makes a terrific God, and the rest of the cast was great as well. Good man is perfect as a pompous blow hard Senator that survives a "fly by" in the end...and Graham is always good...I loved her in her series, so it was nice to see her in such a big movie. The animals were fun to watch building the A. R. K., and the message was clear....Acts of Random Kindness. Brilliant & Funny!
The Invisible - This movie was okay. Your typical Teenage angst movie. It had a good premises, but what I didn't ever get was the connection between the girl and the boy. I don't think it was ever made intense enough before he was wandering around invisibly and certainly not after. I just didn't feel it. The ending was meant to be very dramatic with the gestures and music, but again, I never felt that intense of a connection between the characters. Teenagers will like this movie, but other then that I say wait for it to be out on HBO.
The Condemned - This movie was pretty good...if you like beat the hell out of someone kinda killin.' I rented this for my husband, but we both agreed that it wasn't bad. Stone Cold was very good, not that he had to act much. The fight scenes were nothing special...bloody and violent, but that's it. I'll be honest...I've never been so happy to see a film crew, correction, a bunch of Internet nerds, get slaughtered....a move you saw coming from the minute Stone Cold looks out the chopper door. This movie has a clear message as well...if we were to logon and pay good money and watch that kind of "reality show," and you know we would....are we the Condemned? hhhhmmmm.
