Hitman and Elizabeth

Wow...sorry this took so long to get to, but it's been a crazy week so far and about to get crazier!  Dodge was inspected this morning, new stove comes this afternoon, I also have a moms group thing to go to and then to the stable to ride this evening.....this day has me exhausted just thinking about it....but you didn't come here for that....You don't care about me....so onward....Movie reviews....hhmmmm.....let's see.

Hitman - This movie was alright.  Think Bourne meets Dark Angle, meets Shoot Em Up.  Secret government Hit men are raised from unwanted children and tattooed rather then named.  Then of course our protagonist is set up and ends up falling for the accidental girl that he is trying to protect.  Lots of blood and shooting with alright fight and shooting scenes.  Olyphant is trying to be the sexy and redeemable guy that the woman want, but he's just not pulling that off....it seems like he's trying to be very Josh Duhamel but just isn't in the same category....that's just a woman's take though.  As far as his acting and his character...that was decent enough.  I didn't love or hate the character...in fact I really didn't feel any attachment, but at the same time, I did want to stay tuned to see how the whole thing played out.  Like I said...alright....I'd wait for HBO on this one.

Elizabeth The Golden Age - I liked this one.  Of course I love European History.  Those were my favorite classes in High School & College.  I love all of the kings and queen drama...it's one big, age old, soap opera...only the mob wars were holy wars.  I thought Blanchett was great.  The costumes were brilliantly done, however I tend to think that they did not dress so lavishly and in such bright colors....My problem with a movie like this though, is I never know what is fact and what is fiction.  I know Mary Stuart was imprisoned and killed, and I know about Philip and his Spanish Armada....but to what extent was it true.  Did Elizabeth agonize over her cousins death?  Was there a Bess (Ok I looked that one up and there was...she and Raleigh both were true) Did she, the queen, ride into battle with her people??  I guess now I'll spend the next few hours on line researching the Queen and finding out fact or crap.  I tend to believe the entire movie as it was so brilliantly done.  One more thing I loved was that the Spaniards spoke their language....so many movies tend to just have everyone speak English for the viewers sake, but they actually kept true to their language, their dress, their mannerisms....I just thought this movie was brilliantly done.  And it's not just a chick flick, like you may think....my husband was very concerned when he left the room without knowing if she were in fact shot....I say rent this one!

ALRIGHT...I looked it all up...it's all true.  Take Elizabeth as true to form....it seems to have been torn right out of the encyclopedia.
