Sometimes I wonder what Pa would think if he suddenly woke up in 2008.  When I drive by a tractor out in a field, I wonder what he would have thought about today's world?

Think about it....for some strange reason Pa Ingalls wakes up in an old barn in Minnesota....or a ROOT CELLAR...hows that for accuracy?  He steps out to find a great big farm house and barn....fencing much more impressive then what he used....then he starts to journey.  He passes odd looking things along his way, but pushed on in puzzlement....after all he just woke up a hundred years later....I'm sure there's a lot on his mind.    Then as he steps onto the main thoroughfare, Vroom!  a car flies by him! 

What goes through his mind?  Does he think we're aliens?

Come to think of it....and not to get off track, but have you ever noticed that nobody in a western ever considers the idea of aliens?  Did they never wonder what was beyond the stars?  Probably not...I know I never do.  

Pa would be overwhelmed with our technology.  I assume he would probably be impressed with how much easier farming had become (since his time that is) but probably a little disappointed as well.  Disappointed in our loss of self, simplicity, responsibility not to mention values and integrity.

I wonder what he would think....

Sure would be a lot quicker to Sleepy Eye though.
