The Things we Lost in the Fire, Mr Magoriums Wonder Emporium, The Hunting Party

Things we Lost in the Fire - This movie was very touching.  I had no interest in it at first and thought for certain I would cry my way through it, but surprisingly I did not.  It's full of flash backs so you do have to pay attention.  I thought Berry was great as the grieving widow.  She was passionate, irrational, and simply sad.  Her character hit a wide range of grieving emotions and every second felt true.  As for Del Toro...I thought he gave a great performance as an addict.  Now I said I did not cry throughout the film, but I will say that by the end however I was crying uncontrollably.  This was a good movie if you are in need of a good cry in the end.

Mr Magoriums Wonder Emporium - I loved this movie!  It was magical, it was sweet, and the characters were all people to love....the hat kid, the girl stuck in her life that she can't get out of, and of course, the mutant.  The Emporium itself was probably the best character in the film.  What a great concept the shoes were.....he found a pair that he liked, so he bought enough to last him his life time.....that was his last pair of shoes...so it must be time for him to go.  This movie was wonderfully magical and reminds us to believe that we can do anything, just like they tell us when we are children.

The Hunting Party - Honestly, I know very little about Bosnia and that entire situation.  This movie was a bit of a world history lesson for me.  I thought that both Howard and Gere were great together and the entire story was interesting and gripping.  This is not necessarily a movie I would say run out and rent, but it wasn't a bad movie by any means....apparently it was based on a real story, and the credits let you know that (which was cute)  It had real and compelling moments as well as some cute and funny one liners that kept such a serious topic light enough to endure.  This one's on you...rent it if its your kind of thing....
