A Month's Worth of Movie Reviews
OK...as you know...I've been busy. But the movies have not stopped coming....I'm going to do this with lightening speed....so pay attention!
Fool's Gold - This movie was cute. Matt and Kate are cute together again, and the adventure was fun. However when it was over my husband pointed out that they showed all of the funny parts in the trailer....there was nothing much more then what you saw in TV commercials. I would say rent it though. It was cute.
Be Kind Rewind - Took it out...skip it.
Bucket List - We've already been there and done that....loved it, loved it, loved it loved it.
27 Dresses - This was cute too. Predictable, but a fun little chick flick.
Jumper - I didn't expect to like this movie much. I'm not into Sci-fi and I thought that's what this was. It was a pretty good movie. The chasing and fight scenes I think were a little much. It's very hard to keep up with a fight that takes place as they are jumping from one country to the next. I think someone spent a lot of time cutting and editing...a lot of special effects, but it went so fast that, I'm quite certain the viewers never got a chance to truly appreciate it. Rent it though...it was good.
Meet the Spartans - This movie was funny. Kevin Sorbo was hilarious to watch skipping into battle. Maquire did a great job of staying in the character from 300. He mastered the low, calling voice and never let up on it once. And you have to love Paris with a Hump! This was funny....if you like spoofs this will not disappoint.
Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Tour - This was something different to watch. We love Vince Vaughn and his friends, so I thought it might be fun. It was. It was funny, and it was interesting to watch the behind the scenes. I would say rent this as well...but please do not expect a stand up show...it's not the Blue Collar approach, they don't show a half hour of each comic. It's more of a documentary feel with clips of their acts woven in.
Grace is Gone - This was a good, touching movie. Cusack, we all know I love, and once again he is brilliant. A different character for him in this one. He has to play the anal retentive dad that's trying to figure out how to deal with his wife's death and his two small girls. As they journey to the theme park, both dad and the eldest girl work to find not only who they are as well as search for each other...finding out just in time to make it through the toughest obstacle yet. Good indi flick.
Golden Compass - Way too close to Narnia...but it was good. I don't remember the details...except that we spent most of the movie debating whether or not Sam Elliot (Swayze's friend from Road House) was dead or not...apparently not. The set up for the sequel has been laid, so rent this and wait for the next one.
Strange Wilderness - This movie was just what you expected. Stupid, but funny. I'd watch it again.
Rambo - Gross. Dumb. Way to un realistically graphic.
