You're My Boy Blue

1986...

After my horse, Luke was shipped off to NY, I continued to hang around Farmstead Stable.  Jim (the snorting Trainer) was out and another new trainer was in.  Her name was Eileen and she was a very nice young woman.  She had a sweet bay quarter horse, which at the time didn't mean much to me, but now as I think about it...it was foreshadowing to my future of head sets and breed shows.

I needed to pass the time without my Lucas and there were two young horses living in the field that were the foals of my love, Princess and mom's love, Royal.  They had both been fathered by an Arabian Stallion.  Blue was my favorite.  That of course, was Princess’s blue roan colt.  Eileen allowed me to bring him in and start playing with him.

I spent my last week in
Nebraska, teaching him everything I could.  I taught him to lounge, and to take the bit.  On my last day there I had him bitted and lounging with a saddle on his back.

Sadly I was never able to sit on my little colt, that I had spent so much energy loving and training.   To this day, I don’t know what ever happened to him.  I hope that he was eventually finished, as he had a great, trusting heart for a little Arabian.
