Here's a clear and simple rule to follow as a good horse back rider.

You don't ever undress yourself from chaps, helmets and gloves until your horse is untacked. 

You don't sit and take a swing of soda while you shoot the bull with your lesson partner until your horse has been brushed or hosed off. 

Your horse always comes first.  Make sure he is properly cared for...then you can relax.
