The Concert

Alright...if you have followed the random ramblings...the babbling blog...or if you have ever met me, you know

I love Def Leppard.

Sunday night Jana and I took her son Tim and my nephew Brandon, both 12, to see them in concert at the Fair.  They both found Def Leppard after watching the movie Balls of Fury.  Very excited they were thrilled with the whole experience.

Def Leppard ROCKED!!  This is my third trip to their show...I will say, nothing will ever beat the Hysteria performance at Knickerbocker (yes, before it was the Pepsi Arena)  and they were probably better several years ago when the whole Batson clan went to see them at the Fair.  But they were still great.

I grinned throughout the whole thing.  I sang at the top of my lungs (you knew I would) I danced.  I had a few weird moments where I SWEAR I saw Steve Clark on the stage....I mistook Rick Savage a few times for looking just like him....the spot light made his hair look white like Steve's used to be and the way he was standing with his head down and hair hanging...I just had a few very bizarre, is it a ghost moments.  Savage was great though...usual solo bass performance then stopping to pull his long bangs up and look at the crowd the way he always does.

The rain came down in the middle of the loudest anthem ever...Pour Some Sugar on Me.  Jana had a flash back to last time she saw the band in a downpour.  We were under the awning so we were good, but the band was getting wet and having fun with it.

The guitar solos were beautiful.  I could have laid down on my bed, closed my eyes and listened to them crying out into the warm summer air all night long.  They were terrific.  The Thunder God was amazing as always...He truly is, with one arm and the sound that he puts out.  It just resonates through your whole body.

I will say that Hysteria sounded a little sketchy.  The music wasn't very sharp and Elliot was being drowned out quite a bit, but that was the only song that didn't sound right.  He hit the big notes...he held them to impressive lengths.  The crowd sang Bringing on the Heartbreak back to them on accoustic guitar.  We rocked out to Rock of Ages and finally the encore to Do You wanna Get Rocked

The whole thing was good and I was so happy that the boys enjoyed a great rock band.

ROCKET-YEAH!

P.S.  The boys snuk off to the brush after the walk back to the car to pee and Brandon fell into the creek...that was some funny shit.
