Toys Away...!!!
Monday may have been my proudest moment as a mother yet...My kid put her toys away....Twice!
In the afternoon my daughter, or captain destruct-o as I call her, sat on the floor of my office and played with the dog's toys. As I finished up what I was doing on line, I sang a short verse of "Toys away" from Kindermusik and low and behold, she picked up a toy (that she had dumped out of their collection bucket) looked at it, then placed it back inside the bucket!!
(I may have shed a tear if I hadn't just learned that the woman I was trying to fix my brother-in-law up with on line was a Russian Mail Order Bride.)
Later that same evening the strange phenomenon occurred again. As we played with her Big Blocks, (by we played, I mean I try to build something as she tries to pull it apart as fast as she can...Destruct-o) she pulled it apart she tossed the pieces as she normally does. I moved the cart that the blocks live in to her side and sang "toys away" again. She sets one inside. Oh My God, I thought bubbling with delight. I tried it again....she put more pieces in the wheeled cart. I was so proud! I threw a party for every single piece that was gently set inside rather then thrown over her shoulder in madness.
It's those small accomplishments in life that you really do need to revel in. It's all those little things that can brighten your day and make you feel like your not a complete failure...
I'm so proud of my little monster.
