#1 - Always send a Thank you.
Showing appreciation for something someone has done for you I think is really important.
It doesn't have to be elaborate...it just has to say "thanks."
As a kid I hated my mother for making me write out thank you notes after a birthday party....but now I realize how important they actually are.
When someone goes to the trouble of giving you a gift, goes out of their way to help you in some way, or loans you something you really needed...even if it's just an ear....Don't take that for granted. Don't just assume their obligation and let it go unrecognized. Let them feel your appreciation and in return you are giving them a much needed sense of self worth (Something that we are ALL in search of...whether you admit it or not.) And look at it this way....if they did just buy you a gift because they were invited and "had to," well then your thank you will be like fire to the hair on their ass. A note of recognition from you will make them feel like crap for what they were thinking about you when they were forced to shop for you. (So in the end you win and come out on top as the bigger person)
Hand written and snail mailed is best, but like I said, they don't have to be elaborate...you don't have to write out an entire card and include a picture of you using the item. Just a simple, Thanks, I loved it.....Or Thanks again for your help the other day, should suffice. It could be via email or even a Text message, but just acknowledge that other people went out of their way for YOU. They felt you were worth their time, so make them worth yours.
Thank people!!
Nothing bugs me more....
