Don't let Chivalry be dead just because we exercise our rights of equality.

Woman are equal.  Equal to men, just as blacks are equal to whites.  We as human beings are all created equally and deserve the same opportunities in life.  But that doesn't mean that simple manners need to fall by the way side.  Yes sir, she wants your job, but don't not get the door for her on that principle alone.  Still show her respect not only as a woman but as another human being that deserves it.  The same respect she should show to you.

I want my daughter to grow up to become a strong independent woman that relies on no one for anything that she needs in life.  I do however, want her to still accept simple, respectful, gentlemanly gestures. 


Ellie, become the C.E.O. of the company.  Become a Judge or a Doctor.  Rule the world if you so desire.  But don't hesitate to let him get the door for you, or pick up the check at the end of your dinner.  Don't be so busy being equal that you miss out on simple regard.  Let him be a gentleman.  Let yourself be a lady.  Show each other basic human respect as well as proper manners.  And if he's not a gentleman...well then, Kick his Ass.
