Colors

Make sure that you find what colors YOU think look good on you.

I remember when I was little my mom didn't like me in yellow and she never liked the color red.  So I was never dressed in either.  Maybe that's true.  Maybe I don't look good in certain yellows.  But I should try them shouldn't I?  I mean people change...they grow...evolve....tan.

It took some time before I realized that there was an entire rainbow of colors out there that I could wear.  Ever to this day I tend to go with browns and taupes....but I do like color.  Why am I sometimes afraid of it?

I remember working as an ad writer for a real estate company when I was in my early twenties.  The one agent was very audacious.  Loud clothes, loud make up...Utica Hair....lol.  She told me once that she loved red because it was bold like her and made her stand out.

hhmmmm....I'm loud and fearless....most of the time.  I like to stand out and be noticed.  It was then that I went to the mall and bought my first RED blazer.  I thought I was very business-ie at that point.

Now when I go shopping I try to look at every thing.  Colors I may have been lead to believe are not "My color," I still pick up.  Prints, God I hate prints....but I still check them out....even the nastiest ones sometimes can actually be pulled off to be quite nice with the right pants or skirt.  I will say that the floral print gets pushed WAY too much on the plus side community....do we really look like all we want to wear are flowers....puhl-eeze.  I try to venture into every color of the spectrum though.  I actually think about my closet and try to decide what is missing....then I do my best to add to it.  I also do what I can to dress in the different colors when I know I will see the same group of people with any regularity...so they don't find me boring, or falling into a pattern.

As for my daughter.  I buy her everything!  Stripes, flowers, dots, pink, blue, moss green.  I don't know what "her" colors are yet.  I know that blue sets off her beautiful eyes, and I know that peach and lavender both make her absolutely gorgeous....but I don't think we have a color yet that doesn't look good on her.  I don't even know if that's true for anyone to be honest.  Every color can work when worn correctly.

You just have to find what you like best....what you like YOU best in.

        screw what anyone else thinks.
