She Did it!
So she did it! The little shit pulled it off and she was a rock star!
All week long I have been bummed out about Halloween. Every time Ellie sees her monkey suit she gets mad and starts to panic that we'll put it on her.
The other night for music class I dressed her in a Vikings jersey and made her carry dad's helmet because I didn't want to suffer a public break down.
But come October 31st....this kid was on! I put the pants on her as she played with her clean pile of her beloved burp cloths. Once she realized they were on she threw a fit, but got over herself quickly. A short while later we went to see my parents. She left the pants alone, but pulled her socks off in the car and chewed on them like a puppy (wrong outfit perhaps) Once we arrive, I grabbed the top half and just put it on her like a coat...Who knew that the Cramer's giant blow up pumpkin with ghouls would be such a distraction!!?? I took about 30 pictures in five minutes...she even had the hood up!
We visited shortly and then headed back to the Berkshire. Once we arrived home we gave her a short costume break but then suited up for our tour down the Berkshire with little Pirate Nicholas and Co.. Of course this means only four other houses besides our own because the rest are awaiting demolition. Three out of the four are elderly people, which meant a bag of chips from one, and one single piece of candy from the others. I have to say, I was very depressed when we got home. I know she's only 16 months old and won't eat the candy, but don't these people understand that this is my turn?! My chance to trick or treat again....that very small window between no door to door at all and a time when she has a fit when Mommy steals a piece....this is MY time.....GIMME!! haha....I joke of course. But she was great. She walked the whole cul-de-sac while the older toddlers road in a wagon. Of course she also wanted to revisit every house with each group she saw going to a door....but she was great.
We rounded the evening out by sitting together on the porch and sharing a package of sweet tarts....then about an hour later we watched her run like she was on speed all over the house....
maybe no more candy for a while.....
