What Would Abe Think?
So I was thinking yesterday....what would Abraham Lincoln think right now of the situation in the United States of America. He spent his years fighting for the abolishment of slavery....now we have a black man elected to his former office.
He would be so proud.
Later, still thinking about this historical event, I thought...what a country we live in where a black man can be president....then it occurred to me....I think we are one of the few countries that actually would make that distinction. Why shouldn't a black man be president or a leader of any country? Other governments have had no problem with black or women leaders for generations.
Honestly, how dare us even make that statement.
So I guess in the end, it's Kudos to us for progress, but shame, shame on us for even drawing those color lines in the first place.
