My Mental Music Games
Sometimes I wished I hung around people that shared more of my interests. Like my love of music and movies. Not that my friends don't love both, but they don't know the facts and weird stuff the way I do. And I'm quite certain they don't do the weird little mental things that I do.
For example, I remember lines from movies after only one viewing, so as I'm talking to you and you say something odd that I remember from a flick, I instantly quote it...sometimes out loud. That of course makes people stop talking and look at me funny.

But what I do more of is play with music...and yes, this interferes with my whole, "listen better," goals. See if someone is boring me, and I hear a word and it makes me think of a song, I secretly play a word game in my head. For example....so and so is repeating for the millionth time what cute thing 'she' does. I have heard this all before, and I in fact have seen 'her' do it. But the story includes the phrase, she's so "Sweet." There it is....Sweet. ie. Sweet Emotion, Sweet Home Alabama, Home Sweet home, Sweet Caroline, and so on...I see how many song titles (or bands) I can name with that word. It's non productive, probably rude, and I don't win any prizes for my accomplishments, but at least you're not boring me anymore.
I just wish just once I could call the word out loud and someone else would play along.
