Who Is Ellie?
OMGoodness this kid is awesome.
First of all her vocabulary is growing extensively. She repeats every thing you say perfectly and what isn't perfect is darn close to it. She has said "Ass" on two occasions...that was very cute. Brett tried to teach her "Ass-hoolee" from Meet the Fockers but I quickly asked him to stop doing that. She is finally getting the "M" sound which means I'm now officially Mom and not Daddy anymore. I can still hear the struggle with the mmmm sound however when she repeatedly calls Elmo, "Elbo." But she's getting it.
I have taught her 'Please' and 'Thank you' in sign language. That's all I ever got to, but it makes me so happy. She points to things and rubs her chest...asking politely for what she wants.....of course now I have to teach her that just because she says please doesn't mean she always gets what she wants. Thank you is kind of half-assed, but she does it so I will not try to correct her. Instead of sweeping her hand outward from her chin, she just covers her mouth with an open hand....but she is, in her mind, saying thank you, so I am thrilled. She actually has started doing this on her own when people hand something to her without me having to remind her to say Thank you....this makes me beam with pride....not so much that I'm proud of her as much as I am pleased with myself for doing something right as a mother. She has manners....yeah.....
We dropped the crib down to the last hole, so the climbing has stopped....for now. Another inch or so and we're in deep doo-doo though.
So who is she....who is Ellie Batson????
Well...
She LOVES to color and scribble. She knows some letters, some shapes and a few colors. She plays great pretend games with herself and enjoys playing tea party. Ellie loves to twirl until she falls down. Her bouncing has graduated to jumping with excitement when she dances. She knows the hokey pokey and still does the Hitler walk on hard floors just to hear the thump. She takes my rolling pin from it's drawer and stirs the dogs water with it. Ellie's an expert at 'Seek and Find' books. She loves to take her produce basket full of fruit, sit on daddy and place each piece of pretend fruit in his mouth and watch him launch them across the room with all his powerful hot air.
Ellie rides the dogs, tries to pick up the cat, climbs on her toy horses all the time as well as anything else she can get on. She loves her cell phone, and went to sleep last night with a remote control in each hand, being clutched like teddy bears. She pets Longfellow Giraffe every day, and launches Little People's Eddie out of her barn with the chicken gadget and laughs. She climbs on boxes and chairs to watch the fish and tries desperately to play with Mommy's keyboards. She licks the windows, and kisses all her stuffys. She tries to color with her toes, and brings me the clips she pulls from her hair. Ellie is the unofficial KinderMusik ambassador, greeting EVERYONE with a hug to class. She wrestles her Elmo chair, and cuddles with us when Oswald comes on.
Ellie still poops in the bathtub most nights, but is at least sitting on the toilet from time to time rather then screaming and running from it (progress....) she loves stickers and because of this I now have a workable bribe. She's still Captain Destruct-o when we try to build anything with her legos, but throws a party for herself for each block she adds when we are stacking together.
Ellie's a social butterfly, and jabber jaw, very ambidextrous and an all round very happy kid with no fear and iron willed determination.

I love every second of her.
