Motrin Monster

My daughter became one this past weekend.

Ellen has a cold.  It was so bad on Wednesday that I actually called in to work.  Her day care provider suggested the Motrin....again I am hearing this from yet another parent.  So I bought some.  I gave it to her Thursday morning.  I stayed home with her again, however I did send her over to day care for an hour so she could be at the previously planned Christmas party.  When I picked her up I saw her slapping at another child's arm because she wanted her to move.  I quickly corrected her.  My child does not hit....it's important to mention that at this point in the story.

The rest of the afternoon was the same.  Angry.  No remorse.  Smacked me five different times.  She was like no one I had ever met before.  I took her to music class although I wasn't sure we'd stay.  Fortunately she was a very good little girl and the devil never appeared from her.

The next day she was the same.  Just mean.  Whine-ie...pushy...inconsolable...it was awful.

Finally by Saturday morning...just after I squeezed another dropper of Motrin into her little mouth, my husband said no more.  We have never seen our sweet little daughter act this way.  The medicine was the only variable that had changed.

The remainder of Saturday was more of the same....but by Saturday evening, she was starting to return to her former self.  Yesterday Ellie was back.  Still with a runny nose, but at least smiling through her little chapped lips and playing joyfully with us....listening when we speak....giving hugs filled with love once again....

We had rid her of the "Motrin Monster" once and for all.....

                                            Thank God!
