She Gets The True Meaning
This kid LOVES Christmas....and she doesn't even know what it is yet!
Or Does she....?
It's actually very sweet. Ellen is at her purest....her most innocent.
She loves the decorations. She wants to gently touch them all. She sits by the tree and just marvels at the lights, and the ornaments...she waves to herself in the shining Christmas balls.
She is in love with Santa and Rudolph. She says Santa's name a hundred times a day. She calls it out to anyone with a beard. She ran to him yesterday at the work Christmas party. The same applies to Rudolph, or "Rudy" as we call him here. She brings me all her stuffed reindeer and makes me sing his song....she adds the "ho, ho, ho," when "Santa came to say," and then again she adds the "Yippee," when the "reindeer shouted out with glee." She just loves it all.
And even though she has received gifts that she has not hesitated to tear right in to, she doesn't seem to think that's the holiday's main objective.
She loves the music. She loves the TV specials. She loves the stuffed decorations that sing....mostly my mom's Grandma Got Run over by A Reindeer guy.
She marvels so much in every thing that is this holiday that it will make me sad to bring it all down in the New Year.
The way that she treats every aspect of the season....the way she rejoices in all the beauty of the little thing.....I think Ellie is one of the few people that actually understands the true meaning of Christmas.
It's about that single bright shinny star that leads us to the innocent and reflects the love and generosity in our eyes...
...in her eyes.
...in her eyes.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

I too stumbled across your work...however I doubt you remember me. I am far removed in the past of Westmo, for better or worse. Great memory stir though!

OK....I'm trying to figure out who this is....I am thinking by your recollection of the Burger King episode that maybe this is Kim....Kim from Open Invitation/Skippy fame! Kim that taught me how to dance...among other things....lol. You were the only other one in the truck that afternoon, so that's what is leading me to my guess....Am I right?

No no, not Kim...I was just saying that I remember those girls...vaguely. It was a brown/tan Bronco was it not? Really testing my memory going back 20 years or so here. I just remember them from Tantivy which seems like ancient history nowadays. Is it even still in existence? If so I am sure it is not anything like I remember it.

You got the color right, but it was a pick up. Shelly K. had the bronco! So Tantivy was sold in 1989 and they built a small barn up at the Napa store in Vernon...from there it has grown quite a bit and now little Jenna is a trainer there.
The "stable" itself on Old Bristol Road is still there but under different management....not quite the awesome place we remember.
So I am still wondering who this is...I'm gonna write you a separate blog and try to figure it out.....You'll have to clue me in a bit though....you've been a bit vague.
Nice to make an old acquaintance though.

It's very touching! Though it's short story but inspiring me a lot. Makes my tears come out, remembering the old times.
