Our Time Began Today
So today was all Ellie and Mommy....and oddly enough after the entire day together I wasn't begging my husband to take her for a few minutes so I could breathe....I was completely in love with my sweet girl today!
Not that I'm not always in love with my daughter, but some entire days with a nineteen month old that only takes a half hour nap can get a little exhausting and you just want someone to intervene for a short little break.
Not today though....today I was her biggest fan!
First we met Allison and Co. at the Tot Spot where we played for two hours. She was awesome. Played well, never gave me a hard time and when it was time to go, once again she put up no fuss....that is amazing.
Later, after lunch, many books, cartoons, the afore mentioned half hour nap and snack time, we got dressed and went to our new KinderMusik class, Our Time, for older kids. I was nervous....she was not. In fact she squealed as we turned into the parking lot.
Ellie was great! usually in the Village classes it's all about wandering around and exploring their world. This group stays with mom and dad a bit more and today we learned the concept of high and low pitches as well as doing puppy tricks (that's hard to explain) but it was much more fun for Ellen and a lot more to be learned. When we first began Village, I felt her learning something at every class, but that has not happened in a long time, so it was nice to see her trying to copy the older children and their behavior.
She sat with me almost the entire time....of course bouncing on my knee because she was tired, but to the untrained eye of the other parents I'm sure most of them went home reporting the new hyper-active kid in the class. But she stayed with me, she did all the activities with me like she used to. It was great! The best part though was story time. Miss Pam brought out the blanket to sit on...she watched the other children file in and sit....then she did as well. Ellie has never sat facing the reader before, she is usually in the lap for reading. This was beautiful to watch. Even as the other children stood up and crept up in front of her, she remained in her seat...legs crossed...listening intently and trying so hard to do the 'right' thing. It was so sweet I had to fight off my stupid mommy tears.
I was just so proud of her today...she finally napped in the car on the way home....it was a long day.
