I'm Legal and Close to Postal

Maybe you remember my rant back in February when my work place asked me to fill out an I-9 form....maybe not.

Regardless....this is a form that verifies that I'm a legal, American Citizen.

So yesterday my manager and immediate supervisor join me on line for a chat, along with another co-worker that was also asked to fill out the form in February.  They wanted to know if we ever bothered to do it?  Of course.  We both did it that day.

So then she, my manager, tells me that we have to get it Notarized and faxed today!

I was Floored.....

Then of course I was brought back to my original thought when this all started....

....ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?  Do YOU KNOW WHO I AM??!!!!   (see Prior post for the answer)

I was flipping MAD.  I had worked 12.5 hours on Monday and 13.5 hours on Tuesday to get my business required over time in so that I could be free to do eight and out the rest of the week because I have things to do.  UHC Consumes enough of my life.

So, first of all, my instruction two months ago, were to go through our HR Direct on line and fill out the form, hit submit and notify our sup. when it was done.

Done.

Now I'm supposed to Print this long form, Fill it out, find a Notary and then find a fax.

Fine.

I called the Town Clerk and she is more then happy to Notarize it for me and even offered me a fax.  I spent MY LUNCH hour at the town hall and took care of it.

Later that afternoon....3:10 to be exact we both get an email that what we did was unacceptable and neither of us filled ours out correctly....because the instructions were so crystal clear.  So my boss calls me...while I'm on the only break I have taken all day...and tells me what to do and do it now.  I told her...I am done in fifteen minutes and I have somewhere to be.  They started this in February, it can wait until tomorrow morning....

....See I AM an American Citizen.  I work hard, I work long hours, and I give 110% to my employer...but because I am legally here....when my required work time is done and I have something else to do with my life!  I can feel free to go about my own business without being concern that INS will be called on my illegal ass!

So it waited until today.  I called our HR person, who I was pleased to find worked not only in Texas but also spoke perfect English, and verified exactly what was needed.  I dug out my Birth Certificate and my Drivers License.  Called the Town Clerk again and once again spent my lunch hour at the town hall.

It's done.

Now I just hope they find it acceptable.

If not....well....I might have abuse my second amendment rights, and instead of going to the town hall....I might just go Postal...
