Babies of all Kinds

So we have a baby chipmunk living under the cement front steps...we call him Mr. Chippy (from Phineas and Ferb)  We have been feeding him, and yesterday under GREAT protest Ellie left her dirty old carrot for him by their hole.  Mr. Chippy suns him self all afternoon on the porch, driving Maybe Kitty insane!

In addition to that we watched last week as a female Cardinal made a nest in the fire bush directly under my office window.  To Brett's delight Saturday morning he found eggs in the small bed of twigs.  We have suddenly become very protective of our bird family.  Now you need to understand that I hate birds.  Where Brett and Ellie, as well as my parents get very excited about all kinds of birds, I do not.  However...yesterday afternoon another bird landed in the bush and I lounged at the window like a wild beast in an effort to protect the birdless nest from intruders.  I will admit that the cardinals are very pretty and they do sing a beautiful song in the morning.  So they are welcome to stay as long as they feel necessary.

Honestly I look out my window and I wonder if I should dawn a lovely gown and trot out into my front yard with my arms outstretched singing Disney tunes so all these small animals can come to me!
