My Music Firsts

The first album I ever owned was Van Halen 1984.  Preceding that were records my mother had given me to listen to; the Bee Gees and Strawberry Shortcake that she had gotten for me by saving the points from the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese box.  In addition to my Disco/ Tisket a Tasket listening pleasure I had a wide range of 45's that consisted of Barry Manilow, Hall & Oats, Eddie Rabbit, a slew of Disney classics and of course, The Turkey in the Straw!

The first concert I ever attended was Bananarama at Darien Lake with Jana Magnuson.  I remember that earlier that day we waited in line for the ferris wheel and we made fun of the odd hippies in front of us.  As we made our way to the concert green that evening the opening act was beginning...low and behold...it was the hippies from the ferris wheel!

Today I listened to Tesla's Five Man Acoustic Jam.  I remember when I first bought the cassette in the late eighties it was the first time I had ever heard a "live" album and I loved the felling of being in Philadelphia with the band.  As I listened to it over and over again today I was instantly transported back in time and I just kept picturing the Paper Cutter where I worked back then and listened to it to on the trips to and from work....weird.

"I wish we did write that one, but we didn't!  AAHH!"
