Why Did Mom Do it Twice?

I sat in here working last night and listened to my daughter's bath taking place across the hallway.

I heard my husband tell her that they were almost done rinsing her hair and then they would be done...that he would not wash it twice like his mom use to do.

Wait a minute!  My mom did that too!!

Why?

He thinks it's because they were dirty kids.  I think maybe it was because back in the day you only washed the kid ever other day or so, so we needed twice the scrubbing.  Maybe it was because of our well water....but he didn't have well water.  Was shampoo less cleanly in those days?

Why did they do this?

Are we doing something wrong by not washing it twice?

Geeze, don't tell Ellie...she'll burst into tears!

We washed your hair twice because the instructions on the bottles said "Wash, Rinse, Repeat!" And we did as we were told. Now I only wash my hair once and know it's enough. Even back then they were trying to sell more of their product so wanted us to use it up faster! Not dumb people! Hope that helped you understand!!!
