Catch 22 - The Frog
Picture this if you will.
A Pretty young girl...a fair maiden; maybe even a princess. She is lonely. She has patiently been awaiting her brave knight...[and there is always a brave knight.] But alas, he never shows.
In a moment of weakness our heroin runs down by the river and falls into a pile of pink chiffon and lace and begins to sob. She is at a loss. Will true love ever find her? Is she destine to always be but alone?
Suddenly a tiny green frog bounds up beside her. At first she is startled by, but quickly realizes that he is there to comfort her. She carefully picks him up in her dainty little maiden hands and strokes his back. His eyes are olive green and peering desperately into hers. She finds herself no longer feeling alone.
The maiden then remembers a story her governess once told of a Prince trapped in a frog's body and how one kiss will break the awful spell!
She closes her eyes. She puckers up...she kisses the slimy green frog.
Fearfully she lifts open one eyelid to peek as she gently sets him back into the swampy, lush grass and steps back.
Magically...just as the story goes, the frog is transformed back into a handsome prince!
[Alright Fair Maiden!!]
The Prince is forever grateful to the beautiful young woman that has broken the wicked spell. However, (and this is where it gets ugly folks) he will not have the maiden.
He thanks her for her kind service, but takes one look at the hideous worts that now cover her body from kissing a frog that he can barley stand the sight! He runs off as fast as he can!
This is the Catch 22 of the frog stories! And a harsh look into reality if you ask me! Just a little glitch I have found in the whole Froggie Fairy tale telling situation.
Story number one - Some frogs may be princes. Right? "Kiss him, maybe he'll turn into a prince!" your friends would tell you.
Story number two - If you have a wort...you must have kissed a frog. How many of you were teased as a child for having a wort and undoubtedly heard some little ass face tell you how you kissed a frog? It doesn't matter if science works that way or not...some kid told you that, so it must be true!
So in this story we learn the twisted irony of these fables...how they grossly intersect...and how they secretly teach us a simple life lesson.
No Good need goes unpunished.
LOL How's that for a happy fairy tale folks?!
