Does Water Make Dogs Have to Pee?
So if dogs hear the sound of water, does it make them have to Pee?
Are animals effected the way that we are or are they an exception to the psychological pee dance?
This is the question that plagued me at two, three, and four O'clock this morning.
Maggie yipped once in her crate at two am. I decided she could go right back to sleep since I/we had only been in bed for two hours. I, however couldn't then shake the idea that I had to pee. I woke again an hour later to the same over whelming feeling. I couldn't risk it however. If I got up to pee and woke the pup, then I would have to dress and take her out back in the cold rain to pee. Finally at four, I had to chance it.
With her crate parked right by the bathroom door I moved as stealth like as I could, pee'd with a super stream so that it wouldn't make a tinkle, tinkle water dripping sound, then tip toed back to bed. She never moved.
Phew...
At six-thirty she finally whimpered to go out, so I happily sprung from my bed and let her out!
She's doing amazingly well in her crate. She spent 2.5 hours in the crate last Saturday while we went shopping and to lunch. Then again the following Thursday she spent about two hours locked inside while we cleaned for Thanksgiving dinner. That night we took a chance and placed her inside the crate at bedtime and she slept quietly until morning. Certain that event was just a fluke, and she was just wiped out from the day I feared Friday night would not go so well, but again, she slept quietly without a yip. It seems we are crate trained...yeah for that! She is even taking random naps inside on her own. I know I hear of dogs that do that all the time, but I have yet to own one until now. It's very nice to know she is already that settled in there....of course a scary two year old constantly chasing you could drive anyone into a padded cage! LOL
