Let's Catch up With Ellen
So I haven't blogged in a while, and there's been no much anticipated Ellen updates....so let me put things into a nut shell for you...
She currently spends ALL DAY when she's home in her Princess Belle dress, and sparkled black shoes. The irony of this is that she has never watched Beauty & the Beast all the way through to wear Belle actually puts on the yellow gown she is best known for. Regardless, she loves it and actually wore it to the grocery store the other day...complete with holding her skirt up as she walked so it wouldn't get dirty...like princesses do.
In addition to the Belle dress, she has only one other demand...blue zip up footie Pajamas. She refused to wear anything but blue PJ's one night and all we had were ones from last winter. We have them in dark blue and light blue. She will wear nothing else to bed, so we are currently alternating back and forth between them. The other night however we did stray from this pattern, only to wear her adorable green, plaid pea coat from Baby Gap to bed. She wanted to go to the Rough N Tumble so badly that she insisted on spending the evening in the jacket and then wearing it to bed...all so that she would be ready when they opened in the morning....and then Grandma did not take her. LOL oh well...she had been twice in three days...she would live.
Ellie colors wonderfully and continues to amaze us with her fine motor skills. Puzzles are her favorite new thing to do in the evenings. She also continues to eat better then either of us. Every time I see a Hidden Valley Ranch dressing commercial I think of her. The other day she asked for celery, because you cant watch the Wonder Pets without celery. I walked by with a cookie in my hand and she inquired about it. Daddy then appeared with her celery, so she passed on the cookie for the healthy snack...she's a Hidden Valley kid! She also calls her father Daddy-O. Which is just an adorable variation to the original Dadd-O she always used to call him. We just love it.
Ellie also loves her new book Alice the Fairy that Aunt Kelley gave her for Christmas. The best part is when Alice tried to make her dog float on the ceiling with a spell...something like; hocus, pocus, crocus, floggin doggin...etc etc. Ellie tickles the dog and tries to repeat it....to the untrained ear...well, it just doesn't sound good! She's not swearing at them though...so we just laugh a little and try to move her on to something else. Last Sunday however, as I put on make up I pushed the bathroom door shut so she wouldn't see. When she reappeared in the hallway she ordered me to, "Open the F***in Door" several times.....we both went to our own private corners and laughed!
When she's not spouting a potty mouth, she is still very cool grammatically. She still never says yes, or no...I will, I did, I did not...always so darn formal, and clear, and concise...I love it! She speaks better then most adults I know.
She loves everyone "so much!" thanks everyone "so much" and is full of "great ideas" all the time!
In the past year her obsessions have gone from The Wizard of Oz, to Mamma Mia! to Snow White, onto Frosty Returns (Let there be snow, she sings!) and now it seems to be Sleeping Beauty. She's begging for the Briar Rose dress, so I am bribing her with a good girl chart for getting dressed and brushing our teeth both in the morning and at bedtime. She has screaming fits when we tell her it's time to dress and leave for grandmas, and some evenings the same for bed time...it seems to be working. Now I just have to make sure Toys R Us has the dress before I bring her down there for the big purchase reward!
I've also noticed that she shares my same neurotic organized OCD's She not only puts all her toys away constantly, so Maggie doesn't get them, but she always stacks and piles things orderly. The other night, I slid her cup of water in the fridge and it was crocked and leaning. She insisted I open the refrigerator door so she could make it facing front and be straight...
She's the best!
