Bad Words

We've been talking a lot lately about bad words.  Now that she's aware of them, Ellie calls us out on EVERY THING!  I can't even say "Dang it!" without a reprimand from her.

Then today, we're sitting quietly on the floor coloring when we ran out of clean pages....nap-less Ellie got angry and very calmly said, "mommy, I want to say a bad word."  She was pretty adamant about it as  I tried to diffuse and move on with our conversation.  Then I notice her whispering like a possessed little demon, "fuck, fuck, fuck."  Oh my good lord! I was dying!!  So I asked her again why she wanted to say it.  She said, she just did.  So I thought, what the heck... I told her, if she really needed to say a bad word, she could go to her room and say it as much as she wanted and then come back.  She seemed to like the idea.  She got up and went to her room telling me she'd be right back.  I yelled to Brett that Ellie has a free pass and could not be yelled at for anything she was about to do.  Then, as quickly as she left, she reappeared telling me she was scared.  She was scared of the bad words.  Thank goodness!

I gave her a chance and she made the right decision!!

I think I'm gonna make it after all as a mom...
