Productive Labor Day Weekend

I had a nice productive barn weekend.  Not only did I have three GREAT rides, but I seemed to get a lot done as well.  I think I may have found a saddle that I like. I pulled Spencer's mane (I haven't pulled a mane in about 20 years because I never had a horse with a thick enough mane to handle pulling)

Yesterday after my remedial hunter lesson, I backed my car up to the barn and loaded it with every thing I have that could be cleaned.

Once at home, I started a load of laundry complete with saddle pads, girths, and towels.  Then I began the leather soaping, conditioning and Needsfoot oiling.  5 bridles, 2 saddles, paddock boots and even my gaiter half chaps... all shiny and clean!

The best part I think however was my three year old daughter sitting with me, helping me with my disassembling, cleaning, and putting them all back together.  I loved all her questions and talking about how the different bits work.  Lastly she needed to sit in my saddle.

The western saddles been in the basement for 10 years now and had about 4 inch high dust bunnies on it.  That was swept off, cleaned and oiled and now sits with baited breath in the garage.  I do however need to get a new cinch for it.

I feel good about my labor day weekend!  I got so much done...  Now if only I could find the time to clean out my tack trunk!
