We're Getting There

I've been very open and public about our daily getting Ellen dressed troubles.  I think I should also report that it's improving greatly!  Tuesday she dressed on the first try and I only yelled and threw one shoe when she kicked them off because she needed to do it herself and we were running late. (we did make it on time)

Today!  Today she picked her shirt while we were still snuggling in bed, and oddly agreed to the first pair of pants I pulled out of the drawer.  Of course when I put them on her, they were way to short, but I was not about to turn back...so she was dressed in high waters.  Our only real issue dressing today was with shoes... she could not pick.  The silver sparkly ones matched her sparkly butterfly on the shirt, but, get this... the bottoms of her shoes didn't match!  Are you kidding me???  The red ones are too slippery, and she tossed the black ones back in the pile stating, "no Mary Janes." Finally I picked the Sneakers for her and she accepted that after several times voicing her opinion that she doesn't like it.

We were doing well... we were on our way!  Then I did the unthinkable... I lost my damn mind and tried to brush her hair.  What was I thinking!!!  I apologized profusely so the crying was short, but still she was upset with me and I felt bad.  Why can't I ever accept the small victories and call it a day?

We left with hugs and kisses for daddy, and by the time we got to school and drove around the circle, she was content.  She then spotted Ella merrily running down the sidewalk towards the building and she couldn't get out of the car fast enough!  She ran after her and the other little boy and said. " I can't wait to get in there with my girls!"  yeah!!

(of course the little boy's mommy grabbed his hand and told him "they" were not running...so then I felt like a bad mom...but then again...screw it!  Run like the wind Baby!! LOL)
