There's Something You Should Know
We had a nice family dinner tonight to celebrate my sister in law's engagement. At dinner, Aunt Kelley leaned over and mentioned that they hoped our daughter Ellie could be a part of their wedding. I asked her if she was certain of that? (LOL) They wanted Ellen and Alana to be in the wedding. How sweet of an idea.
We mentioned it to Ellie at the table, but I could tell she didn't quite understand. In the car on the ride home, I brought it up again and we tried to explain what she will get to do in the wedding. She became very excited about the dress, the flowers, then we mentioned the dancing at the reception.
"I'll do my very best curtsy," she told us.
She went on about that a little more, and then said, "Mom, I want to tell you something."
I was looking for road signs for 481 North, but I said, "Okay..."
"I'm going to dance with Tim at the wedding." ...pause... "cause he's my boyfriend!"
"Wwwwhhhhhoooaaaa...." came in stereo from both of us in the front seat!
"Wait, there's something else you should know." (I don't make this stuff up folks ... this is how my 3 year old talks)
"I'm going to dance with him, and with Aunt Kelley at the wedding," she added.
"Oh, ok. That sounds wonderful Ellie."
Then we spent the next hour singing the entire Mama Mia soundtrack as loud and off key as we possibly could, all three of us, all the way home...
Besides, we all know someone in the family's already got dibs on the Tim crush... Alana's held that torch for a while now...
