Hair Today

Last night we had sort of a small tragedy here in our house.  I have no idea what possessed me...  but I can not, CAN NOT find the Undo Button on this one.

There is no recourse....

My daughter stood in the living room with her hair in a matted mess behind her.  I told her for the 4th time it needed to be brushed, only this time I said, "if you don't let me brush it, then it will all have to be cut off because you don't take care of it."

"Let's do that!" she said with big eyes and excitement in her voice.

We ran down the hall and she stood on her little Mickey Mouse step stool as I brushed it out and folded it up in the back to show her what she would look like with short hair.  "Let's do it," she said, "I want it to look like yours."

Over and over she said this to me.  She even fought me to retrieve the scissors up on the shelf over the toilet.  I asked her one last time...  It was a go.

I gathered it together in the back and just Chopped it off!

OMG What did I do?!?!?!

I could not believe how short I chopped it!

Why didn't I just take like an inch off???

Why 5 inches!!

Moments later we all regretted it.  Ellie looked in the mirror and told me she didn't like it.  To fix it, that she didn't look pretty, "Glue it back on mommy," she screamed.

I stayed calm even though my husband and I were shooting horrendous looks at each other.  We both wanted to cry... I wanted to puke.  She cried and cried and cried.

I learned through her tears that she wanted it to be brown like mine, not short...  (why didn't she say that earlier?)

We spent the rest of the evening just starring at our butchered little blonde.  She spent the rest of the evening spontaneously bursting into tears that she didn't look pretty.

Finally we all curled up together on the couch and had popsicles.  I then told her it was time for bed.  She sat up and looked at us both and asked, "is my hair long yet?"

oh boy...

Honestly the cut is cute on her.  It does however need to be fixed, so I will call our favorite hair stylist today and set something up ASAP!

After she went to bed however, these were the thoughts that ran through my mind...

1- thank god Thursday is hat day @ school

2- she'll have a shocking new look on Thanksgiving

3- maybe Mechell can make it look better

4- she's going to the Ballet next week & will be embarrassed cause she doesn't think she's pretty any more

5- it'll grow back

6- she will hate going to Ballet class without her Bun

7- Everyone on TV has long hair

8- I'm taking her to see Rupunzle next week ...

That's just cruel ...
