29 My ASS!!
(pant pant...)
Thanks Foxer, I needed the workout.
With the amount of snow we received in the last few days, the barn doors are hard to move. In addition to that, the horses are not getting outside. It's common practice for me to turn Fox lose in the barn while I clean, so he can stretch his old man legs. Today I left the barn door open, but he was at the other end so it didn't matter.
As I finished up, Fox walked towards me lovingly. In a hurry I pushed him past me so that I could get to Spencer's stall and hang his water bucket back up.
This must have disgusted him...
From inside Spencer's stall, I her a scraping sound. Very clearly the sound of a winter horse blanket squeezing through a small opening!
"FOX!!!!"
I stuck my head out to find him on the outside of the barn. He had pushed himself through a hole only wide enough to fit a muck bucket!!
I walked briskly after him saying "Whoa"... with authority.
He continued under the car port the tractor is usually parked under, with me hot on his heels. In an effort to cut him off, I veered right into the deeper snow as he followed the tractor's path. Of course the snow has a nice sheet of ice over the top, and I was not watching anything but him, so I fell through, and fell down several times. My legs just above my knees feel like someone took a machete to them!
We proceeded around behind the lower barn in the snow up above me knees, paused at the end of the parking lot... seriously looked both ways, before continuing on... Now half running I was behind him, as we headed up Fairway Drive.
I panted as I trudged through the snow and slush (in two sweatshirt) as he pranced merrily like a damn parade horse up the road. Honestly he swung his head from side to side with joy, peeking as to checked on my progress behind him!
Finally he took himself up to the upper barn doorway and waited for me. I think he planned to let me catch up then make another mad dash, but with the snow... he ran out of places to ... well run.
