Marry Me
Tonight at dinner, Ellie took her fathers hand, as they looked lovingly across the table at each other... grilled cheese firmly grasped in the other.
She had been talking about marriage for about twenty minutes straight, but I could see this was getting serious.
Ellie began to tell him how much she loved him and when I started to speak. She glared sideways at me and said, "I wasn't done speaking."
I apologized and she continued.
"Daddy, I love you so much. I'm going to marry you," she started. [This is where it gets good] "I hope Mommy doesn't ever marry you again, so that I can marry you every day."
**Snicker noises from the mamma that's trying to contain her laughter and a, Don't worry, I won't be doing that again, sarcastic jab.**
Ellen finished her proclamation of love, sat back in her seat, picked up another piece of her sandwich and said, "thank you for stopping by."
We both continued to smile at her awesomeness... Then I realized... she meant ME!!!
She was dismissing me!!!
What the heck???
That's it... They are getting married and I've been kicked to the curb! That's a very nice how do ya do if I do say so myself!
[and for the record... I would marry him again... but I think we've already established that I'm border line nuts, so no big whoop!]
