A Wish for Life
Tonight as my 3.5 year old Ellie tossed her coin into the wishing well at Mr. Frosty's she cast her wish aloud.
"I wish I could live for ever and never die."
As she drifted off to sleep, she told me, "We have to tell Mother Nature not to let my birthday come, so that I don't get any older."
My poor old soul of a child, worries about life and death. About aging... her's as well as ours. She worries about being put into the ground. She talks about her voice changing and her skin getting old. and of course... the non stop discussion about the baby in her belly. [they'll cut it out and sew her back up you know, like the kitten's paw in her favorite chapter book]
Such heavy conversation for such a young age
Why can't she just wish to be a Princess or a Fireman or something?
On a more upbeat note, she did ask tonight at dinner, out of the clear blue, "What does Chipmunk Poop look like?" and stuffed her pizza in her mouth.... Now that's my girl!
