Hooking Up

So this summer I will be driving our 30' camper to horse shows for my daughter and I to bunk in.  Yesterday, my husband picked it up from storage and as I saw him make the turn down our road, I felt like maybe summer had finally arrived.  He backed it into it's spot and he taught me how to unhook the camper.

It's just like a horse trailer really, with the exception of the four Jack Feet that need to be lowered.

Today!  He taught me how to hook it up, and we took me on a test drive.  Husband was a nervous wreck.  I've been driving horse trailers since I was 16 and drove one to Texas when I was 17.  Some might argue that that trip didn't go well, but for the record there was no trailer attached when I hit the Ft. Worth Dairy Queen.

I honestly was not nervous about driving it.  A little maybe about right hand turns, because it is in fact longer then any horse trailer I have ever driven, and the wheels are set back further.  I worried about curbs, other cars... those kind of things you can easily clip.  I did just fine.  In fact, Brett made a comment that I was driving it better then he does.

I did turn over the wheel when it came to backing it into our narrow driveway, but I unhooked it all by myself, as my Union shop husband stood around and watched in a very natural state.

Tomorrow I get to learn about Utilities, the awning and the 'sewage' ... eewwwww....

Then we get to Packing!!

I'm ready... Let's take this show on the Road!!
