The New Position
Well that was very unceremonious ... My last day with United HealthCare, after 15 years… 6 with my current division, and not a single word was mentioned. No good bye… good luck… screw off. Nothing.
That’s okay.
I’ve been with Optum for 2 weeks and on week one, I not only received a package in the mail that included a ‘green’ grocery bag, a T-shirt and a Pen, but I also won on line Bingo and got a HUGE blanket with the company name on it. 15 years with UHC and all I ever got was a T-shirt and the other things I had to buy myself.
So far everyone is super nice and I love the idea that I will get used in all facets of processing again. The last group was Soooo very specific. Kind of dumbed ya down.
The training is like retraining my brain of everything I’ve ever know. That part is hard. Learning to read Auths. sucks, but I’ll get that. Forgetting everything I knew is getting easier… and now I just have to stop thinking “medical.“ The no Over Time is great, but I haven’t had a regular, 80 hour paycheck in 6-7 years so I might not enjoy it as much on payday. The only real down fall, is that while we train, I’m working on Central time for the next few weeks... I wish someone had sent Ellen the memo - Mommy doesn't have to be to work until 9:00, please go back to sleep!
Other then that it’s all great!
And I love being trained by our Minnesota office - its like working with the cast of Fargo.
