Doe, a Deer

This weekend we camped in Old Forge, NY.

Upon arrival - still setting up the camper, a beautiful Doe walked right through our site.

I was putting chairs up around the Fire pit with my back to the road.  My husband looked up and said, "Holy Shit," with surprise on his face as he froze.  My heart stopped!  I was certain a black bear was standing next to me.  I carefully and slowly turned my head to find a lovely lady deer strolling through.  She walked right on thru and the disappeared around the next trailer.

A short time later our Pizza Hut arrived (because we camp in style) and low and behold a Bear we had caught a glimpse of earlier came passing by.  He was about 25 yards away in the woods.  He crossed the path we had just adventured down a few minutes earlier looking for kindling. He stopped and looked directly at me before continuing along his way.

After dinner we decided to explore the woods.  They were looking for Bear, while Ellie, Kayla and I were looking for a creek with water bugs and myself nature to photograph.  Brett and Matt found that Nature.  They were not too far from us when they spotted a 6 point buck!  He watched them for a moment then went about his business.

We joined the guys and took pictures, and video.  Mid video, we heard behind us another creature.  A Doe came in from the north side of the woods.  They walked casually towards each other, then met.  They greeted each other then he went to licking her.  Licked her face and ears... then she casually strolled away.  He stayed a bit longer then followed her.  I, fortunately captured the whole thing on tape!

We saw several more deer over the weekend, but no more bears... that we saw that is!
