Autumn Adventure

This year we gave the Autumn Adventure in Old Forge Camp Ground a try.  I invited both sets of grandparents along.. should be fun.

        Right?

Nope...

Cold and raining the ENTIRE TIME!

We made the best of it however.

On arrival we gathered in the Batson's cabin for dinner and later around our camp fire.  During a stop by the pavilion they were karaoke-ing my summer theme song!    "Today I'm not doing anyThing... "   [Thats Bruno Mars for you that don't already know]  Later we sat around the camp fire... in the cold...  with smart phones out!  Gotta Love it!

That Friday night I had a dream about firemen and in the morning the smoke alarm goes off - no worries - Mama was cooking!!

Ellen and I decided the rain would not stop us.  We took a super nature walk down the creek with the dogs.  They all actually went in the water - which translates of course into dogs are wet and kid being wrapped in blanket w/hot cocoa! They did have fun and I got some good nature pics!

Later my mom and I took Elle on a hay ride in the rain!  [was interesting]

Finally we all gave up... the Batsons went home.  My parents and us decided we would too.  But not before the Costume contest and trick or treating!!

Ellen is Krypto the Super Dog this year (thanks to my mom who made her suit)  My mom was Ragety Ann and my father dressed as Brian from Family Guy.  Coco the lab even was festively dressed as a cow!  They all looked great.  The costume judging took FOREVER and was kind of a mess... Ellen was judged but won nothing.  I missed it.  My parents threw in the towel before they got to them.  Waiting for 45 minutes in the rain is ridiculous.

They went back and handed out candy at our camper while Brett and I took our super dog around for treats!  She loved it but was frozen.  We only went down one row of campers and returned.

Ellen actually found her calling, not in trick or treating but in handing out candy.  I cleaned up inside as Brett packed up every thing out side and Ellen manned the candy station handing it out to every one.. and took her job SO seriously!  We were proud.

Finally we headed home...  camping in the cold is one thing but when you're soaked to the bone all you can think about is a hot ass shower and your own bed.

Finally around 8pm, we arrived at the Berk.

T'was a dark & stormy night - There's no place like home ♥  funny how your life can cover two classics in just 1 hour!
